Project Charters for L&D Practitioners


Projects, even small ones, seemingly get out of our control. We might be assigned a project with an impossible deadline, a ridiculously small budget, or no one to evaluate the deliverables prior to presentation. This is where project charters can help --- if they are done correctly from the beginning. Our session will equip you with the right words to ‘negotiate’ the scope and resources for your projects and avoid scope creep. By the end of this seminar, you will be able to: list at least three characteristics of a project, explain the project formula, use a project charter template, define five key project-related terms, and list at least three examples of resources.

Alyssa Chuck  is an organizational development and training executive with over 30 years of experience. She is an expert in managing, developing, delivering, and evaluating training for: leadership, communication, sales & negotiation; and customer service. She serves as L&D director, project manager, instructional designer, and trainer.

Alyssa is both a Certified Professional in Talent Development and Senior Professional in Human Resources. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Florida International University and is a Certified MBTI Practitioner. She’s obtained diplomas in both Change Management and Project Management. She kayaks as often as she can, and spends time with her dog, Juneau. She and her husband Karl have traveled to 4 of the 7 continents and aim to visit all as soon as possible.

The ATD South Florida Chapter has been pre-approved by the ATD Certification Institute to offer educational programs that can be used towards initial eligibility and recertification of Certified Professionals in Talent Development (CPTD) and Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) credentials. This program qualifies for a maximum of 1 point.

Event Details:

  • Registration fee includes dinner.
  • You may request a vegetarian entrée through the registration process and payment. For other dietary accommodations, please contact the VP of Professional Development, Kevin Coyne, at profdev@atdsfl.org at least one week prior to the event.
  • When you register, your confirmation email will contain pre-work for you to complete. Please bring your answers with you!
  • Dress code is business casual.
