    What is an LLM?

Whenever I see LLM, my first thought is large learning model because I am from a educator perspective even thought I know it is large language model. Acronyms are tough and content area specific. However, what does large language model itself mean? This title does not indicate the extensive training that the programmers did to train the anonymous computer how to interpret the complexity of human language and how much body language plays into our language.

    Great question, George.

When you engineer a prompt, you are refining the question you want answered to help the AI tool provide a better, more specific response. In essence, it’s just a form of improving the way you communicate with AI.

You will get different responses depending on the prompt.

If your prompt is “Tell me about the Boeing 767, you’ll get a much different answer than “Tell me what the maximum range of a Boeing 767 is if it does not refuel. One prompt will tell you about the design process, the history of the airframe, when the first 767 came into service and maybe the number of 767s in service. The other will tell you that many factors affect range and provide you with an answer in the neighborhood of 6600 nautical miles.

It's important to note that using the identical prompt again will not necessarily lead to the same answer the second time around.

Generative artificial intelligence is a type of AI trained on data. It is able to generate new media, such as text, pictures, and audio. An example of generative AI that we are all familiar with is ChatGPT.
