  A fast-paced, hands-on intro to AI for everyday L&D tasks - no experience required

  Come prepared: Bring access to an AI platform of your choice (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude). We’ll use it during hands-on activities.

  

  This fast-paced, hands-on session gives a solid introduction to AI and shows ATD practitioners how to use it to speed up everyday L&D tasks. We’ll cover what AI is (and isn’t), where it fits in your daily workflow, how to prompt for higher-quality results, and simple ways to narrow expectations.

  You’ll leave with a practical prompt checklist, a starter use-case, and time-savings ideas you can apply the same day.

  By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Explain how AI works and where it adds value to L&D.
  • Utilize AI to accelerate daily tasks.
  • Create opportunities for additional AI usage.

  This is ATDSFL's 17th year of offering our annual Mentorship Program.  This 2026 program runs January through June. Since its inception, the Carol Susan DeVaney Mentorship Program has made a positive difference in the lives of more than 360 professionals as a flagship program for the chapter. Participation in the program is exclusive to members.

  The program Kick-Off and Pairing Event provide for an opportunity for all program participants to meet and connect with one another. The highlight of the event is the pairing of mentors and proteges, allowing individuals to quickly meet each other, share program goals, and backgrounds. The program concludes with the pairs meetings, establishing their goals, and scheduling their first mentor/protégé working session.

     

  The 2026 Mentorship Program Key Dates:

  • Mandatory Orientation Webinar: Saturday, January 24^th, (11am – 12pm) 
  • Kick-off Pairing Event: Saturday, February 7^th (9:00am – 12:00pm); required to attend the entire event
  • Mid-term Event: Saturday, April 11^th (10am – 12pm)
  • Graduation Event: Saturday, June 20^th  (10am – 12pm)

  Jess Almlie is an award-winning learning and talent development strategist, consultant, and speaker with 30 years of experience helping organizations elevate L&D from reactive service providers to strategic business partners. A former vice president of learning, Jess now works with companies and L&D teams to align learning with business strategy, build leader and team capability, and drive measurable performance results.

  Jess is a frequent speaker and workshop facilitator at ATD conferences and events and has proudly served as both a local chapter leader and a national advisor for chapters (NAC). She is also the host of the L&D Must Change podcast and author of L&D Order Taker No More! Become a Strategic Business Partner (ATD Press). In 2025, Jess was honored with the Learning Guild Master award for her contributions to advancing the learning profession.

  

  

  The ATD South Florida Chapter has been pre-approved by the   ATD Certification Institute to offer educational programs that can be used towards initial eligibility and recertification of Certified Professionals in Talent Development (CPTD) and Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) credentials. This program qualifies for a maximum of 0.5 points.
